KIRF Co-founders Angela Kirwin and Mark Kirwin are volunteering this weekend at the Ventura Marathon. It begins and ends at the Ventura Pier and runs along the coast.
Feel free to register for one of the races or fun walks–or just to say “Hi!”– if you’re in the area. Since we’re getting up Sunday morning at 3:30 AM, you may see one of us at Starbucks at the Harbor Blvd Vons in Ventura several times that morning! We are delivering water to the many water stops at select mile markers along the 5K, Half and full Marathon courses.
The Ventura Marathon race directors are donating a portion of their race entry fees to KIRF.
You can still register for Sunday’s 5K, Half, and full marathon (Sunday, September 11, 2016 and yes there will be a remembrance) –or tomorrow’s 30-mile ride, Metric and Century Bike Rides and Kid Fun Walk and Beach Adventure Obstacle Race (Saturday, September 10, 2016).
The Beach Party is free and includes food by Pizza Man Dan, coffee by Ojai’s Coffee Connection, and fresh local beer by MadeWest Brewery (pizza, coffee, and beer are not free, sorry)
Not in running shape? Do the Kid Fun Run/Walk….

KIRF’S LOUISIANA FLOOD DISASTER RELIEF:
KIRF Co-founder Mark Kirwin and Steve Doll are volunteering for KIRF doing disaster relief in Louisiana. They are taking funds donated (so far) by Rotary Club of Ventura East, several local and Valencia-based businesses, and individual donors, to help families who lost their homes in and near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Over 85% of these families had NO flood insurance, don’t have “extra” money to live in hotels and really NEED help. Over 55,000 families made homeless, 6,000 businesses closed, and look– it’s not even a headline in the news anymore. Though I did find a September 7, 2016 update on the flood’s destruction in the New York Times
To donate to buy supplies for the flood-affected families in Baton Rouge, you can make an online donation (using a credit card or a PayPal account) by clicking on the button “KIRF DONATE” : https://kirfaid.org/donate
Or, you can write a check to “Kirwin International Relief Foundation” or “KIRF” and mail it to:
Kirwin International Relief Foundation

This is a 100% volunteer disaster relief project and donated funds will go directly to purchasing supplies requested by the families we help in Baton Rouge. Kirwin International Relief Foundation is a registered non-profit 501(c) 3 organization in the State of California and monetary donations to it are tax deductible.
Thank you to those who have made a donation recently!
